Students gain retail insights; enhance practical understanding of business operations

The Marketing Club of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, organised an insightful industrial visit for the students of BBA and B.Com (H) to Eastwood Village – Retail Mall, Jalandhar. The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand exposure to the dynamic world of retail management and enhance their practical understanding of business operations in a retail environment.

The students, filled with enthusiasm, explored various retail outlets within the mall, gaining valuable insights into modern retail practices. They observed essential aspects of retail management, including merchandise assortment, retail floor layouts, product stocking and display techniques, customer service strategies, and various payment systems used in the industry. By visiting multiple global fashion brands, dining outlets, and lifestyle stores, students were able to analyse how strategic planning and infrastructure design contribute to creating an engaging shopping experience for customers.

A major highlight of the visit was witnessing how Eastwood Village – Retail Mall successfully integrates multiple retail formats under one roof, offering a diverse and vibrant shopping atmosphere. Students learned how a high-street mall functions efficiently with its well-planned architecture, attracting consumers from different demographics and providing them with an unparalleled retail experience.

The visit was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Rajneesh Arya, Dean of the School of Management, and faculty coordinator Mr. Rahul Handa. Their insights and mentorship played a crucial role in helping students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. The faculty members also encouraged students to interact with store managers and sales executives to gain a deeper understanding of customer behavior, marketing tactics, and operational challenges in the retail sector.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, praised the initiative and acknowledged the Marketing Club’s continuous efforts in organizing experiential learning opportunities for students. He emphasized the importance of such educational trips, stating, “Providing practical exposure is crucial in today’s business landscape. This visit to Eastwood Village – Retail Mall has helped our students bridge the gap between academic concepts and industry practices, equipping them with valuable insights into the retail sector.”

The visit was an enriching experience, reinforcing AIMETC’s commitment to holistic learning. It provided students with a clear perspective on how modern retail establishments operate and the strategies employed to attract and retain customers. With such industry visits, AIMETC continues to focus on delivering an industry-relevant curriculum that prepares students for successful careers in business and management.
