The need to observe and try to draw attention towards pressing issues of the environment is essential. To keep this in mind, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park organised an assembly on the theme, Human Life Line-Ozone. The students of classes X A and C enthusiastically participated to enlighten the audience about the importance of preserving the ozone layer that covers life on Earth from lethal ultraviolet radiation.
A speech given illuminated the gathering with the critically alarming rate of the depletion of the ozone layer due to human beings. The coherently speaking lecturer demonstrated the gathering of how certain pollutants in the form of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) have depleted this vital atmospheric layer at such an alarming rate. It was both informative and urgent, conveying the necessity of adopting eco-friendly habits that can contribute to preserving the ozone layer at the individual level.
According to Tanya Chaudhary, TGT Social Science, at the school, it is important to create awareness about preserving the ozone layer among one and all, especially the students. “Protecting the ozone layer is a race against time. A world without ozone will be a world without life, the educator said.
Anvi Gupta, a student of class X A, who was part of the event said: “Ozone depletion is a global issue and protecting it is a shared responsibility.”

Music that sounded like the lament of Nature
The school choir, as an answer to the speech, sang a moving song of their self-composed song lines that vividly portrayed nature’s grief over human relentless exploitation of resources. It was a beautiful melody in the lyrics that drew attention; people felt the change needed to come into attitude regarding the environment; they realised the importance of how a balance between development and ecological well-being exists.
Featuring the battle between nature and development
The assembly performance also had an interesting skit that depicted the fierce battle between the forces of nature and human development. Through very dramatic dialogues and active play, the youthful actors showcased how the relentless pursuit of economic growth can result in severe environmental degradation. The skit was an effective portrayal of how uncontrolled development can derogate nature’s balance and call for more sustainable growth activities.
Such programmes organised by Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, have once again helped the students focus their attention and sensitise their minds regarding their role in protecting the environment and ensuring a greener, healthier world for future generations.
