Gone are the days when a student was judged by academic success. Everyone is now looking for a well-rounded personality that sets each student apart. Therefore, it is not surprising that you have TV platforms like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs to The Voice, Sabse Bada Kalakaar to Junior Masterchef India, and Super Dancer where kids can showcase their talent. The best part is that there is no dearth of talent in our country.

Meet one such talented kid from Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad in Sector 21-D – Dhruv Pandit. The young and talented student won the Winner’s Trophy at the Talent Hunt Excellence Award for singing that was organised at DAV Public School in Sector 49.

Talking about his love for music – singing – the class V student said that he has been learning music since he was five years old, and now at ten, he is particularly focused on classical and Bollywood music. He has recently completed his second-year professional exam in Indian classical vocal music.

Sharing his win, he said that the competition was held on March 17 this year, organised by DAV Public School. “However, there event was divided into zones at eight locations. It featured categories like singing, dancing, painting, and art. I participated in the singing category, performing the song Gulabi Aankhen. We (my parents and I) had been awaiting the results for about two-and-a-half months due to the large number of participants. When the results were announced, I was thrilled beyond words,” Dhruv said.

Why did he choose Gulabi Aankhen? “There were a couple of reasons. I love this song. Second, it was a joint decision with my music teacher who guided me on what to sing. We went back and forth and after much discussion, we reached a decision and chose this song sing it suited my voice as well,” the achiever recalled.

“I have been singing since I was two but started formal lessons at five. “My interest in music began with listening to old songs on the CD player at home that my grandmother used to listen to. Since then, there has been no looking back,” Dhurv said and added that the best about pursuing his passion is that it doesn’t interfere with his studies.

“My music classes are scheduled for the evenings after school. While I am now in class V and there is some academic pressure, my love for music reigns high. I also participated in a Karate competition and won a Gold medal as well,” he stated.

All this and much more could not have been possible without the support and guidance of his school. “The school has been instrumental, providing opportunities to participate in various cultural activities and competitions. I am active in every programme, helped by the supportive environment created by my teachers. My parents have also played a huge role in nurturing my passion,” Dhruv said and shared his plans.

He intends to continue his music education. “I participated in auditions for Superstar Singers 3 last year but due to some reason, I couldn’t qualify. I plan to audition for the next season now,” Dhruv said in conclusion.
