Recently, Apeejay School, Noida, celebrated the achievement of three students who performed strongly in the ICAI Commerce Olympiad 2026. Manvi Laddha of Class XII, Arnav Anand of Class X, and Bhavik Gupta of Class IX brought recognition to the school through their impressive scores. Such competitions help students apply classroom learning to real situations while building confidence and analytical thinking for future academic pursuits.

In a candid interview, they share their success mantra, among other things.

Manvi, who scored 97, shared that she plans to pursue a degree from the University of Delhi before moving on to professional courses such as CA or CFA. “While preparing for the ICAI Commerce Olympiad, I mainly focused on strengthening my Class 12 Commerce concepts, especially in Accountancy and Business Studies. Since the Olympiad syllabus was closely related to what we study in school, my regular preparation for board exams helped me a lot. Revising concepts carefully and making sure I understood them clearly played a key role in my preparation,” she said.

One of the most challenging aspects of the exam was managing time while answering conceptual questions. Some questions required deeper thinking and quick decision-making, so staying calm and focused was very important for her.

“Participating in the Olympiad helped me understand the value of strong concepts and analytical thinking. It also gave me confidence to apply what I learn in class in a competitive environment. I would encourage other Commerce students to attempt such exams. If they stay consistent with their studies and focus on understanding concepts, the experience can strengthen both confidence and board exam preparation,” she opined.

Arnav, who scored 98, said that he participated the exam because his school encourages students to take part in academic competitions. “The guidance and support from my teachers inspired me to take this opportunity seriously and challenge myself. They helped us understand the importance of practical knowledge and analytical thinking in the field of commerce and business. I also saw this Olympiad as an opportunity to represent my school proudly and apply what I had learnt in class in a competitive environment,” he stated.

The topic that interested me the most during the Olympiad was Business Economics. I found it fascinating because it explains how markets function, how demand and supply influence prices, and how businesses make decisions based on economic conditions. This experience changed the way I look at Commerce as a subject. I realised that it is not only about theory but also involves logical thinking, data analysis, and real-world problem-solving,” he said.

Scoring a 96Bhavik shared that he took the exam to challenge and test his exam knowledge. “The exam included four subjects: Math, SST, Business Studies, and Aptitude. The first two subjects were already part of my school syllabus, so I was able to answer those questions comfortably. However, Business Studies and Aptitude were new subjects for me, which made the exam more challenging,” he shared.

To prepare, he spent time attempting quizzes and practising different types of questions so that he could understand the concepts better. “Whenever I faced difficulty while solving a question, I took help from my parents and tried to learn the correct approach,” he said.
