Spreading smiles, sharing hope

In a touching gesture of compassion and creativity, the students of Apeejay School, Model Town, crafted beautiful handmade cards filled with heartfelt messages, love, and care. These cards were specially prepared for the survivors undergoing treatment at the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Cancer Department, to bring smiles and hope to their faces.

Each card reflected the young artists’ sincerity and empathy, featuring thoughtful designs, encouraging quotes, and colourful illustrations. The initiative was part of the school’s ongoing effort to instil in its students a sense of social responsibility and empathy towards those in need.

The cards, once collected, were sent to PIMS, where they were lovingly distributed among cancer survivors. The joy on the patients’ faces was immeasurable, as the simple yet meaningful gesture brightened their day. Although the photographs shared show smiley emojis placed over the faces for confidentiality, behind those digital smiles were genuine emotions of happiness, gratitude, and connection.

This heartwarming activity not only brought cheer to the patients but also offered the students an invaluable life lesson. They realised that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life.

Through this initiative, students learnt the true meaning of empathy, compassion, and service to humanity. It taught them that happiness multiplies when shared, and that emotional support can be as healing as medicine. The activity beautifully reinforced Apeejay School’s philosophy of nurturing socially conscious individuals who contribute positively to society — spreading light, one smile at a time.
