According to a report by TeamLease Services titled ‘India’s 5G rollout: Revolutionising the People Supply Chain,’ India is projected to require a minimum of eight million skilled individuals by 2025 to fully leverage the recently launched 5G services.
The report emphasises the significant role 5G can play in job creation and the upskilling of individuals. It highlights the IT and banking sectors as major beneficiaries of 5G due to their considerable potential. The impact can also be found in BFSI, education, gaming and e-commerce while hinting at the diverse and inclusive nature of 5G.
The problem, however, lies in the demand and supply gap pointed out in the telecom industry, which is a whopping 28 per cent. The report stresses the urgent need for industries across sectors to take up initiatives to upskill and reskill workforces. The report further anticipates a massive impact in terms of job creation as 5G rolls out in India. It is expected to be more than 80 per cent within three years of the 5G roll out.
