A school’s academic and extracurricular structure goes a long way in shaping and preparing the child for life in the future. The tender young years of a child deserve the best of values defined scholarly structure. As parents remain apprehensive about their child’s coming times, their dependence on exemplary pedagogic preparation remains intact.
Meet one such parent – Devender Manhas, father of Arvind Singh Manhas, a student of class XI at Apeejay International School, Greater Noida. In a candid interview, he talks about the positive changes in his son.

How is your son preparing for the Boards next year? Any stress or anxiety?
My child is handling the pressure well and the credit goes to the school for helping him manage the preparation for the boards next year. There is a bit of anxiety which is unavoidable but the school teachers are making sure that my child is able to figure out all his weak academic areas so that he can work on them with extra effort.
Is the school environment conducive and fulfilling for your child’s growth?

Absolutely! I feel the school is particular about the holistic development of a child. In my son’s case particularly I have seen that when the school promotes academics plus extracurricular activities, it has built confidence and wholesome growth in him. This dual focus by the school on my child is very satisfying for me as a parent.
Did the school help in making sure that your child is picking the right stream?
I have always made sure not to put my child under pressure or expectations regarding his field of career. Having said that, apart from the personal discussion with my son, his teachers made an extra special effort to understand his bent of interest in a particular field of study. This way Arvind was clear on what subjects to pick and how to pursue them.

Teaching techniques followed at this school.
My wife and I are always informed about my son’s performance in academics on a regular basis. It was told to us that our son is facing certain difficulties in understanding Math so his performance in that subject was dipping. After careful analysis by his teachers, it was mutually decided that my son should be given separate attention through remedial classes in the subject. Such steps has helped my child cope up with his weak areas excellently.
What kind of positive changes have you seen in your child’s personality?
His personality is greatly shaped by the balanced education system that the school provides. The school curriculum provides a perfect mix of great academic structure along with interesting extracurricular activities. This has instilled a lot of confidence, clarity and understanding about life in him. He is no longer fearful about how to manage and solve life problems ahead. For instance, he knows that even if sometime later he wants to take up fashion or acting with a science background, there are ways to make it happen and the choice is always open.

Traits of an ideal school.
Apart from a good infrastructure, an ideal school should be the one that believes in the wholesome growth of your child and not put the child under any unreasonable expectations or demands. This kind of attitude always breaks the child’s healthy growth prospects.
Moving on to Apeejay, this school has given immense number of opportunities to my son in all areas since his primary section. I actually got my son admitted into Apeejay after my brother’s recommendation, since his child also studies in the same school. The infrastructure, academic structure and extracurricular activities are totally useful in shaping my son’s personality so far. I as a parent am fully satisfied and assured about his bright future ahead.
