Artificial Intelligence is no longer a buzzword – it’s the engine powering everything from daily conveniences to high-level business strategy. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, a crucial question arises: Where should students and industry stakeholders focus their efforts in an age dominated by AI and automation?
For Mr Vishal Sharma, founder of MS Technologies and an IIT Kanpur alumnus, the answer lies in embracing AI beyond surface-level tools. Speaking as a parent of Saanvi Sharma, a student at Apeejay School, Greater Noida, he emphasises, “AI is transforming how businesses operate. From automation and analytics to customer engagement, it’s everywhere. Students should look beyond just ChatGPT and explore areas like AI-driven process improvement, predictive analytics, and domain-specific applications.”
The Bigger AI Picture
This perspective offers a timely reminder that while conversational AI like ChatGPT is valuable, the scope of artificial intelligence spans far wider. Sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, finance, and education are already leveraging machine learning and predictive analytics to revolutionise processes. Whether it’s diagnosing diseases early, improving crop yields, or detecting financial fraud, AI is opening doors to smarter, faster solutions.

Rethinking traditional systems
For industry stakeholders, Mr Sharma suggests reimagining traditional operations with AI-augmented decision-making. This means blending human intelligence with data-driven insights – an approach that improves both efficiency and foresight. Businesses need to adopt flexible systems that allow AI to not just assist but actively enhance strategic choices.
Did you know? India is one of the top three countries in the world with the highest demand for AI talent. Yet, there’s a significant skills gap that needs addressing through both education and training.
As AI continues to redefine the future of work, students must be more than just tech users – they must be innovators. The future belongs to those who not only understand the tools but can also envision new ways to apply them.
