Teej, celebrated with great enthusiasm across northern India, especially in Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and parts of Uttar Pradesh, marks the arrival of the monsoon season. The festival is deeply rooted in Indian culture and is associated with the reunion of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
For many, it symbolises marital devotion, prosperity, and renewal. The Pre-primary Wing at Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad, recently embraced the spirit of this vibrant festival by hosting a heart-warming Teej utsav for its little learners.
The celebration was not just about festivities but also about helping children understand the meaning and traditions behind this utsav. A thoughtfully curated presentation introduced the students to the festival’s significance, how it is observed across different states, and the traditional items associated with it—from swings and bangles to sweets and mehndi. This short but engaging session laid the foundation for the activities that followed.

From tradition to celebration
With the context set, the pre-primary corridor transformed into a joyful celebration. Young students participated in a lively dance session on popular Teej songs. Their cheerful movements, bright attire, and infectious energy brought the festive vibe alive. It was more than just fun; it was about connecting with culture in a way they could relate to.
One of the most loved moments was the mehndi activity, where the tiny palms of students turned into small canvases for simple henna designs. This not only allowed the children to enjoy the tactile joy of applying mehndi but also sparked their curiosity about traditional customs. A festive photo shoot added a touch of excitement, letting the children pose and smile in their colourful outfits.

Closing on a flavourful note
No Indian festival feels complete without food. The day came to a close with the children savouring seasonal festival delicacies, making the celebration wholesome, satisfying, and memorable. Through the Teej utsav, Apeejay School, Faridabad, didn’t just mark a date on the calendar. It offered its youngest learners a joyful experience rooted in culture, celebration, and community.
