‘Pain’: Poem by Aakifah Khan, Apeejay School, Nerul

Oh lord! It feels as if the sun had grudges over me,
the rain had long saved its tears,
to weep and bare the pain with me.

All my memories have come rushing back to me,
as the tide which hits the shore,
travelling long back from the ocean.

The only reason,
I was happy, proud, angry has left this world,
leaving me all alone in this dry barren land,
where none resembles the soul of yours,

It comes to me as if it was just yesterday,
I scolded you to study,
and you sadly left me unheard.

Wise were those who said,
when you have the one by your side,
you forget all your problems.
Little did I know,
you would abandon me this way.

I know you can hear me,
I call on you every time the clock strikes 8.
You felt that you were a burden to me,
Oh dear! You were the soul I trusted the most,
I loved the most.

My smile, anger, love, affection
was just meant for you.
The friend of yours,
reminds you, how I dreamt of you,
becoming the young man of my dreams.

The world has fallen apart,
Thunder crashing won’t even qualify to
reflect the pain, sorrow I have faced.
You will long live, my dear!
In my dreams, you reside the most.
How I wished God could have taken me to him,
And you lived.
I would have been the happiest,
to see you grow into a young man.
Love you, my dear!
I have wept more than the clouds ever rained heavily.
