Nestled in the Kalimpong district, Pabong is a tranquil village surrounded by the lush greenery of the Neora Valley National Park. Situated at an altitude of 4,700 feet, it offers breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, including the majestic Mt. Kanchenjunga. With its serene environment and abundant natural beauty, Pabong is a haven for those seeking peace and a break from urban chaos.

Pabong is located just 3 km from the better-known Charkhole village, separated by a small stretch of forest. The short walk between these villages takes 15–20 minutes and offers picturesque views. While Charkhole boasts popular resorts, Pabong provides a more intimate experience with homestays run by the locals. These homestays, though simple, are equipped with basic amenities and offer visitors a glimpse into the region’s culture.
The surrounding forest teems with flora and fauna, making Pabong a paradise for birdwatchers. Visitors can spot species like the Roller, Minivet, Sunbird, and Swallow. For adventure enthusiasts, the village offers trekking routes leading to the Neora Valley National Park, where they can explore the region’s diverse wildlife and scenic beauty.
Pabong is remote, and reaching it requires some planning. The nearest railway station is NJP (New Jalpaiguri), about 80 km away, and the closest airport is Bagdogra, roughly 3 hours away by car. Shared vehicles are scarce, but private taxis from Siliguri, Kalimpong, or Charkhole are convenient options.
Pabong serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby attractions:
Other destinations, such as Kaffergaon, Rishop, and Kalimpong, can also be explored as day excursions, making Pabong a versatile choice for travelers seeking nature and tranquility. Whether you’re a nature lover, a trekker, or someone simply looking to unwind, Pabong offers an unforgettable Himalayan experience.
