Nurturing future leaders: A workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship’

In an inspiring convergence of academia and entrepreneurial acumen, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar, hosted a five-day workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship.’ This transformative event was meticulously organised through the collaborative efforts of ACFA’s ‘Entrepreneurship Development Cell’ and the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta.

For the participants, this workshop proved to be a holistic exploration of the multifaceted realm of entrepreneurship with Mr. Gaurav Vashisht, a distinguished recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award and the Successful Youth Entrepreneurship Award.  He guided the attendees through an array of enlightening topics. Central to the discourse was the art of presenting entrepreneurial ideas in a manner that resonates with potential investors, thereby securing vital funding. Further, Mr. Vashisht shared illuminating strategies for effectively communicating the value proposition, ensuring that investors are captivated and compelled to contribute to the vision.

A cornerstone of any successful entrepreneurial venture is a profound understanding of consumer demands and market trends. Delving into this critical aspect, Mr. Vashisht elucidated the nuances of market research and positioning. His insights underscored the significance of crafting a marketing strategy that aligns seamlessly with consumer expectations, thereby amplifying the chances of
start-up success.

The discourse also emphasised the indispensable role of teamwork in the entrepreneurial journey. Participants were enlightened about the power of collaboration and collective synergy in realising ambitious business visions. Additionally, the significance of prompt problem-solving and flaw rectification was accentuated, highlighting the importance of agility and adaptability in navigating the challenging landscape of start-ups.

As the participants gathered to reflect on their enriching journey, Dr Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, commended the dedication and zeal demonstrated by both the organising team and the attendees. Dr Dhingra shared her conviction that the workshop had not only broadened the students’ horizons, but also imparted invaluable insights into the intricate dynamics of entrepreneurship. Addressing Mr. Gaurav Vashisht, she expressed her gratitude for his instrumental role as a resource person, fostering an environment conducive to robust learning and innovation.

Subsequently, Dr Dhingra extended her warm congratulations to Ms Garima Arora, Dean of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell, as well as Mr Ankit Goyal and Amandeep Thakur for orchestrating the resounding success of this transformative workshop. Dr Dhingra also lauded their unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the college community.

In her closing remarks, the Principal expressed her unbridled enthusiasm for the future, underscoring the commitment of Apeejay College of Fine Arts to continue hosting workshops that delve into contemporary and relevant themes. She articulated her hope that such initiatives will continue to empower students with the skills, knowledge, and vision to become not only successful entrepreneurs but also agents of positive change in the world of business and beyond.
