The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has released a special classroom module on Operation Sindoor for students from Classes 3 to 12. The module aims to familiarise schoolchildren with India’s response to terrorism, the nation’s defence preparedness, and the role of diplomacy and interministerial coordination in safeguarding national security.
According to NCERT, the resource has been designed to help students understand not just a single military mission, but the broader framework of how India deals with threats to peace and stability. For the younger classes, the content is simplified, while the second-stage module offers detailed insights into planning, precision strikes, and India’s use of advanced defence technologies.
The teaching material cites earlier terror incidents, including the Uri attack in 2016 and the Pulwama attack in 2019, to provide historical context. It then explains how Operation Sindoor— launched on May 7, 2025, as a response to the April Pahalgam terror attack was carried out. The module highlights the synergy between the Chief of Defence Staff and the heads of the Army, Navy, and Air Force in executing precision strikes that destroyed multiple terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Students are also introduced to India’s integrated air defence systems, including the S-400 and counterdrone technologies, which proved effective during Pakistan’s retaliatory actions.
Describing Operation Sindoor as a “precise and responsible” mission, the module underscores its larger purpose, strategic deterrence rather than mere retaliation.
