The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is undertaking a significant overhaul of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabi for classes III and VI, aligning them with the recently introduced National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. This initiative, slated for implementation in the academic year 2024-25, aims to synchronise the educational curriculum with contemporary pedagogical paradigms.

A formal communication from NCERT to the CBSE delineates the blueprint for this curriculum revision, underscoring the imperative of disseminating information about the impending changes to schools, educators, and parents. It highlights the collaborative efforts between NCERT, CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), and the Department of School Education and Literacy, all working in tandem to realise the objectives laid out in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

To facilitate a seamless transition, CBSE-affiliated schools will be furnished with updated textbooks aligned with the revised syllabi. The NCERT has urged CBSE to proactively communicate these developments to schools and devise strategies for engaging students in active learning experiences spanning various disciplines and extracurricular activities.

In addition to textbook revisions, NCERT is rolling out a syllabus bridge programme designed to facilitate the smooth transition for class VI students, alongside providing comprehensive guidelines for class III. This initiative seeks to introduce students to innovative teaching methodologies and incorporate new subjects like Arts, Physical Education, Vocational Education, and The World Around Us into the curriculum.

Efforts are underway to develop new activity books and textbooks that reflect these changes. Schools are encouraged to widely disseminate this information to ensure a seamless implementation process and to foster awareness among parents and the broader community.
