Her legal expertise in resolving tax disputes is most sought after by big honchos and laymen alike. Meet Ritu Shivkumar from the batch of 2017 of Apeejay School, Kharghar. In a candid interview, she walks down memory lane expressing all her favourite memories with school teachers and friends.

What are you pursuing now and what’s your ambition?
I am currently working as a tax attorney at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys. My ambition is to excel in my field and become the best in the profession.

How were the teachers at Apeejay School?

The teachers here were incredibly nurturing. I can’t help but recall one teacher whose classes were always engaging — honestly, if not for her, I would have surely failed in maths. My class teacher was also very supportive, always helping me balance my passion for football with my studies.

Share your favourite memories from school.

My favourite school memories are the trips — we had an amazing time, whether it was Igatpuri or Imagica. I also loved the Inter-house tournaments, especially since Emerald House won, of course — because, let’s be honest, we were the best!

Which extracurricular activities did you enjoy at school?

My favourite extracurricular activity was sports, especially football. Our team won the DSO and Subroto Cup both years, which was a proud moment for us. I also had the opportunity to represent at the national selections in Aurangabad, where our sports teachers provided immense support. Without a doubt, sports was the highlight of my school life.

Message for the present school students.

A favourite TV character once said, “I wish there was a way to know we were in the good old days before we actually left them.” That perfectly sums up school life. No matter how much you think you dislike it now, these will be the best days of your life. So, live in the moment and enjoy every bit of it!
