Siddhanta Roy, a class III student Apeejay School, Nerul, found his deep interest in public speaking because of his teachers, who always encouraged him to participate and hone his skills. His mother, Smita Roy, a homemaker, shares how the Apeejay teachers have been consistently working towards the overall development of students.

Edited excerpts:

What made you think Apeejay Nerul would be the right choice for your son?

We got to know about the school from one of our neighbours. We were keen to visit the school and when we finally met the teachers, we were very happy. Our admission interview also went very well. We were impressed with the academic track record of the students and the teachers. We found the staff to be very cooperative. Moreover, we were looking for a CBSE school for our child, so Apeejay was indeed the right choice.

Has the school lived up to your expectations so far?

My son began his schooling at Apeejay and it has been a very good experience. Siddhanta has shown a lot of development in the past few years. He has learnt a lot from his teachers and adores them. I was especially happy with the way the school conducted online classes during COVID-19. My son was only in kindergarten at that time, but he easily picked up everything taught in class. It was perfect!

Apeejay focuses on children’s holistic development. Apart from academics, what other skills has Siddhanta picked up?

Siddhanta enjoys public speaking. In nursery itself, his teacher encouraged him to present the “thought of the day” in front of the whole class. Once the offline classes started after the lockdown, he got a lot of opportunities to showcase his talent, from giving speeches to reading the news during the morning assembly. Overall, his communication skills have improved. He also enjoys sports and has been actively participating in various games.

Apeejay also makes sure to engage parents in various school activities. Can you tell us more?

Apart from fruitful one-to-one interaction during the parent-teacher meetings, the school also invites recommendations from us for various events and activities. For instance, last year they involved the parents to get more ideas for a singing competition. Such initiatives definitely foster a friendly bond between the school and the parents.
