In India, education is often viewed as the foundation for a successful future. Many parents see quality schooling as the first step toward equipping their children with the skills, knowledge, and discipline needed to thrive in their careers.

While selecting the right school, parents consider a range of factors. Reputation and the quality of teaching staff often top the list, as these directly influence a child’s learning experience. Additionally, the school’s location plays a crucial role — many families prefer institutions that are close to home. Meet Nandita Rabha, whose daughter Amy Sharma has recently been promoted to Class II at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park.

In an impromptu interview, she said, “I chose this school because it’s very close to my home. I live in Malviya Nagar, and the location was convenient for us. I have seen this school for many years as I’ve lived in the area. I did visit other schools too, but Apeejay School had always been on my radar.”

What was your first impression of the school when you entered the campus?

The first time I entered was during my daughter’s interview back in 2023 when I took her for admission to KG. The infrastructure stood out — it was decent and gave a good impression.

How has her growth been—academically and personally — since joining?

Academically, she’s doing well. Personally too, I’ve noticed a positive shift. She has become more social. With over 20 students in her class, she has learned to interact and make friends. She’s developing a peer group and becoming more disciplined with her time and routine.

One big change is how much her socialising has improved. She’s now comfortable making friends and understands how to be part of a group. I think that’s a really important part of early development.

How would you describe the school’s approach to balancing academics and extracurricular activities?

Academically, it’s appropriate for their age — they’re still in the early learning stages. In today’s world of gadgets and screens — which I’ve managed to keep her away from — kids need to move, play, and be active. She has participated in skating, which is nice, but I feel there should be more playtime.

What qualities of the teachers stand out to you the most?

The teachers have been amazing. That’s one of the biggest reasons why my daughter is always happy to go to school. Her teachers in both KG and Class I were excellent — very caring and attentive. I’ve had a great experience with them, and I believe they’ve played a big role in her positive school experience.

Has the school helped support or encourage any specific talent in your daughter?

Yes, she’s good at speaking and has taken part in drama activities. The teachers have recognised her talent and encouraged her. Even during PTMs, they’ve mentioned this and given her opportunities to lead. That makes a big difference.

How has your overall experience with the school been so far?

It’s been good. My daughter looks forward to school, and I think that speaks volumes. Since she’s still very young, most of the interaction has been with her class teachers—and they’ve been wonderful.

Are you a working parent? If yes, how do you manage time with your daughter?

I’m self-employed. But even with work, I’ve always followed a fixed routine with her — right from when she was a baby. We wake up and sleep at set times. This routine has made her quite independent, and it also helps her feel secure because she knows what to expect next.  We make time for each other every day. Mornings before school and bedtime are when we bond. Even if I’m not around when she gets home from school, I call to check-in. We talk a lot — about everything. I believe communication and consistency are key.
