Apeejay School, Kharghar, believes in nurturing young minds to excel in both academics and extracurricular activities. Recently, Apeejay Newsroom had the pleasure of speaking with the proud mother of Shubhkarmun Singh, a Class 11 student. She shared her experiences and insights about her son’s journey at Apeejay School. Read edited excerpts:
Why did you choose Apeejay School for your sons?
When we moved to Mumbai in 2009, we knew about Apeejay School because my nephews were studying at Apeejay in Delhi. It was a trusted name, so we admitted our elder son, Harmandeep, in Class 1. Naturally, when Shubhkarmun started school, Apeejay was our first choice. He joined the nursery in 2012.

How has Apeejay School contributed to your children’s growth?
Apeejay has been wonderful. The teachers and staff are very approachable and friendly. My children never hesitated to ask questions. They learned so well at school that I rarely had to help them at home. They were always excited to go to school, and they did well both academically and in extracurricular activities.
Can you share some specific achievements of Shubhkarmun at Apeejay?
Shubhkarmun has done very well academically. He scored 97% in his 10th CBSE Board exams. He also won a bronze medal in the Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik competition in 9th grade, which is a prestigious exam in Maharashtra.
How has Apeejay School helped in developing their extracurricular skills?
The inter-house competitions at Apeejay have been fantastic for developing public speaking and communication skills. Both my sons have become confident speakers. They also participate in quizzes and debates. Shubhkarmun, for example, often wins or places in these competitions.
What changes have you noticed in Shubhkarmun over the years?
Initially, Shubhkarmun was shy and hesitant. But over time, he grew more confident. By Class 2 or 3, he became more open and started participating in various activities. The teachers’ support and seeing his elder brother excel motivated him greatly.
How do your children balance academics and other interests?
Both my sons have learned to balance well. Shubhkarmun loves football and enjoys playing it, though he is more academically inclined. They use social media but know how to manage their time effectively, ensuring their studies are not affected.

How has the school’s teaching methodology impacted your children?
The concepts taught at Apeejay are very clear and well-understood by the students. This has helped them stay self-motivated and independent in their studies. They don’t need to relearn the material at home, just practice and revise.
Can you talk about your elder son’s journey and how Apeejay has influenced him?
Harmandeep, my elder son, is now in his fourth year of software engineering at Delhi Technological University. He also got an internship at Amazon. The leadership qualities and confidence he gained at Apeejay have been instrumental in his success.
What advice would you give to other parents based on your experience?
I believe in understanding and respecting your child’s interests and capabilities. Don’t force your interests on them. Give them the freedom to explore and make their own decisions. Trust them, support them, and involve them in decision-making. This builds a strong bond and helps them grow into confident individuals.
Any final thoughts on Apeejay School?
Apeejay School has provided a holistic education to my children, balancing academics with extracurricular activities. The supportive and nurturing environment has played a crucial role in their overall development. I am very grateful for the opportunities and guidance the school has provided.
