More than 100 faculty members participate in NEP 2020 Sensitisation Programme

Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram through the Association of Indian Universities–Apeejay Stya University Academic and Administrative Development Centre (AIU–ASU–AADC), in collaboration with the Mahatma Hansraj Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MH-MMTTC), Hansraj College, University of Delhi, successfully organised an eight-day National Online Orientation and Sensitisation Programme on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The programme was conducted under the aegis of the Malaviya Mission Scheme of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The programme witnessed the participation of 103 faculty members from institutions across the country, including participants from Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, and Apeejay Stya University. The wide participation reflected the programme’s national reach and its interdisciplinary relevance for educators seeking to understand and implement the reforms proposed under NEP 2020.

The initiative was designed in alignment with the objectives of the Academic and Administrative Development Centres (AADC) and Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centres, which focus on strengthening teaching quality and promoting inclusive and multidisciplinary learning in higher education. The programme aimed to enhance faculty capacity in areas such as research-oriented teaching, leadership and governance, integration of Indian Knowledge Systems, and the effective implementation of NEP 2020 within academic institutions.

The inaugural session was anchored by Ms. Nandini Sinha and began with an address by Dr. Ritu Pandey, Member, MH-MMTTC, Hansraj College. She highlighted the importance of structured faculty training programmes in translating the vision of NEP 2020 into meaningful classroom practices and institutional reforms.

This was followed by the inaugural address delivered by Dr. Ritu Pandey, Programme Convener, MH-MMTTC, and Dr. Shatakshi Srivastava, Programme Convenor and Nodal Officer, AIU–ASU–AADC. They emphasised that NEP 2020 serves as a transformative roadmap for the Indian higher education system and places faculty at the centre of academic leadership, curriculum innovation, and learner-centric education. The speakers also stressed the importance of interdisciplinary thinking and reflective pedagogy in modern teaching practices.

Spread over eight days, the programme featured 16 expert sessions addressing several key themes of NEP 2020, including Research and Development, Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education, Student Diversity and Inclusive Education, Higher Education and Society, Indian Knowledge Systems, Academic Leadership, Governance and Management, ICT in Academia, Skill Development, and Curriculum and Pedagogy. Eminent resource persons from reputed institutions such as the University of Delhi, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai), Jadavpur University, Punjab University Chandigarh, and Sri Sri University shared their perspectives, best practices, and practical strategies for strengthening higher education institutions.

The programme was organised under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Vir Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University. The MH-MMTTC team was led by Prof. (Dr.) Rama, Principal of Hansraj College and Chairperson of MH-MMTTC, along with Dr. Ashutosh Yadav (Director), Dr. Anurag Kakkar (Deputy Director), and Ms. Deepshikha Yadav (Deputy Director). The MH-MMTTC members also included Dr. Ritu Pandey and Dr. Richa Verma, under the patronage of Padma Shri Dr. Punam Suri, Chairman, Governing Body, Hansraj College.

From Apeejay Stya University, the programme was convened by Dr. Shatakshi Srivastava, with Dr. Neelam Mahala serving as Programme Coordinator, and Ms. Nandini Sinha and Ms. Swati Athreya as members of the organising team.

The sessions witnessed active interaction, reflective discussions, and meaningful engagement among participants. The programme enabled faculty members to critically examine NEP-aligned reforms and explore strategies for creating inclusive, technology-enabled, and future-ready higher education systems. The successful initiative reaffirmed Apeejay Stya University’s commitment to faculty capacity building, academic collaboration, and leadership development in higher education.
