Bringing together the spirit of the monsoon and the values of mindful environmental action, students of Classes 6 to 8 at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, took part in a vibrant inter-house seed-sowing competition. The event celebrated creativity, sustainability, and scientific exploration, encouraging students to experience the joy of nurturing life while embracing eco-friendly practices.

The theme was simple yet meaningful — sowing quick-germinating seeds in recycled containers, creatively decorated to reflect the freshness and colours of the rainy season. Each entry emerged as a miniature work of art — vibrant, thoughtful, and rooted in a deep respect for nature.

Students were encouraged to repurpose household waste items such as plastic bottles, glass jars, tin cans, and old boxes as planters. These were transformed into eye-catching eco-pots adorned with natural motifs, rain-inspired hues, and innovative designs. The activity not only promoted recycling but also allowed students to experiment with germination techniques, understand plant growth cycles, and document their progress scientifically.

All four houses participated enthusiastically. While every student poured their heart into the competition, a few entries stood out for their outstanding execution.
Yana of Class 7 from Tagore House won the First Prize for her exceptional creativity. The Second Prize went to Anishka Kumar of Class 7 from Vivekananda House, while Maira of Class 7, also from Tagore House, secured the Third Prize.

Activity In-Charge Ms Harjeet remarked, “The recent inter-house ‘Sowing Quick-Germinating Seeds’ activity was invaluable! It provided a hands-on, engaging way for students to directly experience the plant life cycle, fostering an appreciation for nature’s rapid growth and the importance of sustainability. This practical learning reinforced environmental responsibility and students’ role in a greener future.”

In essence, the event evolved beyond a mere competition — it became a celebration of the season, a lesson in sustainability, and a proud showcase of the students’ creativity. The school lauded the initiative as a meaningful step towards nurturing young eco-conscious citizens who can blend scientific insight with artistic sensibility to make the world greener.
