Becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA) is a prestigious achievement that demands immense dedication and hard work. Aspiring students often encounter significant challenges during their CA journey, with time management and the vast syllabus being the most common hurdles. To gain valuable insights into mastering the CA exams, we spoke with Harkanwar Singh, a recent CA Final graduate from Apeejay College of Fine Arts. Armed with his success, Harkanwar shared invaluable study techniques and time management tips that proved critical to his triumph.
Follow a routine
According to Harkanwar, a proper routine forms the backbone of effective CA exam preparation. He stressed the importance of creating a well-structured study schedule that allows ample time dedicated to each subject. This routine should not only consider study hours but also include breaks and relaxation periods to prevent burnout. He emphasised that adhering to this routine consistently can make a significant difference in one’s preparation.
Make notes
Proper planning and note-making are essential tools in managing the vast syllabus of CA exams. Students must break down each subject into smaller topics and create concise notes summarising key concepts and formulas. These notes serve as quick references during revision, saving valuable time and ensuring a thorough understanding of the material.
Revise regularly
Regular revisions are the key to mastering the CA subjects, and one cannot stress their significance enough. Set aside a dedicated time for revision every week to reinforce the learned concepts. Frequent revisiting of topics helps in long-term memory retention and boosts confidence during exams.
Stay updated
Staying updated with the dynamic changes in laws and regulations is crucial to cracking the CA course. Be well-informed through regular readings and reliable sources. CA exams often test candidates’ knowledge of the latest developments, making this aspect an essential part of the preparation journey.
In the midst of the rigorous study routine, Harkanwar believes that it is vital to nurture one’s interests and passions. Engaging in hobbies and activities that bring joy can help students stay rejuvenated and energetic during their CA journey. Taking small breaks to pursue interests not only relaxes the mind but also enhances focus and productivity when returning to study.
Lastly, Harkanwar’s mantra for success is to “faith it till you make it.” Confidence and self-belief play a pivotal role in overcoming exam stress and performance anxiety. Cultivating a positive mindset and visualising success can empower students to tackle challenges with determination and tenacity.
