Stepping confidently into the corporate world, Apeejay School of Management’s MBA student Paral Agarwal from the Batch of 2025, specialising in Marketing and Finance, has secured a significant role as Branch Manager at Muthoot Fincorp. His journey reflects determination, skill-building, and the values gained from campus exposure and real-life projects.
Read edited excerpts:
How did you feel when you received the placement offer?
I felt very happy and proud. Being offered a Branch Manager position right at the beginning of my corporate career is a huge responsibility. Initially, I began as a Branch Manager Trainee, and after six months, the package will increase once I take charge of the branch completely. This motivates me a lot.
What kind of role are you looking forward to performing at Muthoot Fincorp?
Leadership roles excite me. I aim to support my team, encourage them to work with dedication, and ensure the branch performs strongly. My focus will always be on teamwork and achieving business growth.
Can you share how the interview process took place?
There were three rounds:
GD (Group Discussion) – My topic was “Upcoming changes in India by 2050.”
Technical & Skills PI – They asked about my skills and family background.
Final PI – Mostly questions about the company, its valuation, and products.
Did any college experiences help you during the interview?
Yes! The live project with Max Life Insurance helped me understand how to approach customers and present confidently. Also, the old-age home visit was a strong point during discussions — the interviewers appreciated how Apeejay focuses on social responsibility.
Tell us about your internship experience.
I interned with SBI Card for three months as a Branch Relationship Executive. Interestingly, the work profile there was very similar to what I am now placed for — which helped my confidence.
How have your MBA specialisations helped you?
Marketing is my primary strength — it aligns perfectly with this job. Finance knowledge supports me in handling company products and accounts. Muthoot Fincorp was specifically looking for marketing students with financial understanding.
Finally, your advice to juniors preparing for placements?
Focus deeply on your major and minor specialisations. HR will always ask — Why did you choose these domains? So, build strong knowledge in both theory and practical skills. Confidence in your specialisation is the key!
