Initially, this parent admitted her daughter to another school, but she wasn’t comfortable with the staff or teachers there. She spent six months there, but the environment didn’t suit her. When she got admission to Apeejay School, Tanda Road, in kindergarten, there was a drastic change in two days! “There was a visible difference in the atmosphere, and Riddhi, who is now in Class V, settled in quickly. That gave me the confidence that the school was the right place for her,” Sonia Sehgal shared.
In an impromptu interview, she shared the amazing teaching methodology here.
What were some of the changes you instantly noticed at Apeejay School?
The school focuses a lot on co-curricular activities. Academically, I have no complaints at all; the teachers are good, they provide strong support, and they’re approachable and friendly. That made a big difference.
What kind of activities does your daughter enjoy the most?
She participates in all kinds of activities, both academic and co-curricular. I always encourage her to take part in competitions. I believe it’s a teacher’s responsibility to involve students in every class activity. Specifically, she enjoys dance and art the most.
Does she take formal dance classes?
No, she doesn’t take regular dance classes. But when there’s a school competition, I get her extra coaching for that. She has talent, and I feel that if a child gets the opportunity to come on stage, they can explore their potential and enhance their performance in front of an audience. That’s why I make the effort to arrange extra dance classes before such events.
How is the teaching methodology?
I don’t have any problems with the way teachers teach. From what I’ve seen during online classes as well, the teachers, even the senior staff, are doing a great job.
How do you manage her screen time at home?
We play a lot of board games and word-building activities. She also engages in creative tasks like making greeting cards and doing art-based activities. Sometimes we do role-playing games as a family, and occasionally she plays with kids in the neighbourhood. Of course, she also uses the phone now and then, sometimes mine, sometimes her father’s, but we try to keep it balanced.
How has studying at Apeejay School made Riddhi different from other children?
I am a teacher myself, and I can say that Riddhi has developed a strong sense of confidence. One of the key positives at Apeejay School is that because the class strength is small, every child gets a chance to come on stage, right from the nursery level. That kind of exposure makes a big difference in building confidence and communication skills.
