Educating students on contemporary legal issues and potential careers in law is paramount for several reasons. Firstly, it fosters a comprehensive understanding of the ever-evolving legal landscape, empowering students to navigate real-world challenges. By staying abreast of current legal issues, students develop critical thinking and analytical skills crucial for informed decision-making. Furthermore, exposure to diverse legal careers opens doors to various professional paths, from advocacy to corporate law, aligning education with practical applications. Ultimately, such knowledge not only enriches academic pursuits but also prepares students for active participation in shaping a just and equitable society.
Thus, with an aim to encourage the law students of School of Legal Studies (SoLS) at Apeejay Stya University(ASU) in Gurugram, an introductory session on “Contemporary Legal Issues and Career in Law” was recently conducted. The session was delivered by Professor Praveen Kumar, Dean at SoLS.
The budding lawyers from the law school and faculty members actively discussed the growing challenges towards legal education and the legal profession.
Students were guided towards gearing up for internships and to convert the same into prospective employment opportunities with top tier law firms. Certain aspects of use of e-library and other prominent legal resources essential to excel in studies were also touched upon. Brief design to prepare for judicial services was also elaborated by the speaker.
Lastly, the intriguing session concluded with a Q&A round during which students’ queries were addressed and valuable feedback was shared by the students.
