Khushi, at what age did you start writing poetry?
I started writing poems when I was in Class 7, at the age of 13.
And what inspired you to write poems?
The inspiration for my poetry comes from so many places—my emotions, personal experiences, and inner thoughts. Nature, art, and culture also play a big role. Everyday life lessons and even small experiences can inspire me to write verses.
Tell us about the thought behind your poem on Shri Ram Lalla?
The purpose of this poem is to depict the historic event of the installation of the Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya. Through my verses, I wanted to convey the deep devotion of the devotees and the significance of this event, blending emotion with factual details about the idol.
Who is your favorite poet, and which is your favorite poem?
Sant Meerabai is my favorite poet. Her unwavering devotion to Lord Krishna inspires me a lot. My favorite poem by her is Payoji Maine Ram Ratan Dhan Payo.
Wow, so do you try to rhyme like her?
Well, I primarily use rhyme in my poems. It adds a rhythmic and memorable touch, which I love.
Do you write during the day or night?
I usually write during the day when I have idle hours to focus.
How does your school help you write such lovely poems?
My school encourages me a lot. The teachers praise my work and provide continuous motivation, which keeps me inspired to write more. All this encourages me to write with growing investment.
How do you approach writing a poem? What are your common themes?
I pay close attention to my surroundings—nature, people, and everyday objects. Even news events or devotional moments inspire me. I jot down observations and interesting phrases and from there, I build my poem. It usually takes me a few hours or, at most a day to complete one. My themes often revolve around emotions, personal experiences, art, culture, and spirituality.
What’s the best thing about writing poetry for you?
The best thing about poetry is its ability to capture emotions and experiences in such a unique way. Through carefully chosen words and imagery, poetry lets me express my thoughts deeply, sparking imagination and offering new perspectives to readers.
