Apeejay School in Model Town, Jalandhar, recently celebrated ‘Dazzling Diwali’. Amidst the bright lanterns and colourful diyas, the highlight of the event were the stalls by Prayas, a Jalandhar-based non-governmental organisation, catering to those with special needs. In these, children showcased hand-made diyas and other Diwali-centric decorative items.
What brought cheer to them on the occasion? All of their creations were sold out in no time. The festive season brought smiles on their faces and provided warmth to their hearts.
On this momentous day, the school’s programme started with a Diwali pooja to evoke the blessings of the Almighty. It included dance performances and many more fun, exciting games. Students from classes pre-nursery to 8 joined in with enthusiasm along with their family members.
Renowned personalities such as radio jockey Garry and star choreographer Rajan Syal made the audience dance to their beats. Several parents joined them too in their energetic performances.
Mr. Lal Vishwas Bains, SDM Kapurthala and Dr. Pooja Kapoor, a renowned child specialist, also graced the occasion as guests of honour. Mr. Malkiat Singh, Principal Apeejay School Model Town, Ms. Nidhi Ghai, Headmistress Pre-Primary, and Ms. Namrata Sharma, Headmistress Primary were also present at the event.
It was an evening filled with joy, fun and happiness. “Through the school’s programme, our endeavour was to provide a platform to students from Prayas. Their hard work and creations of beauty made us feel happy, and many people hoped to showcase their products in their homes on this festival of lights,” says Ms. Maninder Kaur, a teacher from the school.
