Into the stars

When I woke up from my bed, I realised that today was the day when we were finally going to shift from this crappy apartment and move into our new house. I was really excited! I got up, made my bed, and ran towards the bathroom to brush my teeth. While brushing my teeth, I imagined all the new things I was going to add to my new room because it was finally time I was going to have my own room!

“Hurry up, Jenny! It’s time to go!” I heard my mom screaming my name and rushed outside where Lisa, my little sister, was still not done with her packing. I gathered all my bags, which I had already packed last night, and walked towards the car where my dad was waiting for us.

We finally reached our new house, which was only a little far from our old apartment. Lisa quickly ran inside the house to choose her room.

“But I wanted that room!” I told her, but she never listened to me. So, being the smart older sister I should be, I let her take that room and got the smaller room next to it instead. I finally entered my new room.

When I stepped into my room, the first thing I noticed was a small old-fashioned cupboard in a corner. It looked a little suspicious to me at the beginning, but then I got over it. I walked towards my cute little brown bed and took out my soft toys to decorate it. When I was finally done decorating my room, I jumped onto my bed to take some rest, and I fell asleep.

“Jennyy..!!” screamed Lisa, which startled me! I scolded her for shouting in my ears and heard Mom calling us downstairs for dinner. I walked downstairs to eat my dinner. When I was finally done, I went back to my room, and it was finally time to sleep. I tried sleeping, but nothing worked as I had already slept the whole day before. I didn’t feel sleepy anymore, so I decided to explore my room.

I heard a strange noise, and when I turned around, I realised that the voice was coming from my cupboard, which I hadn’t explored until now. So I slowly started walking towards my cupboard until I saw a gigantic wide portal in my cupboard! I screamed confused, “WHAT IS THIS?!” and stopped myself from screaming because everyone else was sleeping. I tried putting my hand in it, and my hand disappeared into it. So, I jumped inside the portal, and I realised… I TRAVELED TO MARS?!

I stepped foot on the land of Mars, and everything was so different! It was a dusty, cold desert with a very thin atmosphere and large volcanoes all around. It felt as if I was in a dream! So, I walked around a little to explore and noticed a green lake far away. I decided to go there, so I started walking towards it. I kept walking, and after a while, I realised that I was lost.

I finally reached the lake, but now I was tired, lost, and dying from thirst. The water in the lake looked fresh, so I drank some water, and it felt relieving. Now I wasn’t thirsty but still tired and lost. I sat down underneath a palm tree, which was just by the lake, and after a while, I fell asleep. When I woke up, it was dark all around, and I was freezing from the cold. I noticed a sudden noise coming from the lake, so I went back to the lake, and you won’t believe what I saw there! I saw a strange wild green creature; it had small feet and arms and a big head. I was scared, so I started running away from it, but the creature noticed me and started running after me. It felt like I was running for my life. Suddenly, while running, I fell onto the ground, and the creature helped me stand up again. I was confused at first, but I realised that the creature was just trying to help me and that he knew where the portal to my cupboard was. So I followed the creature, and after a while, we reached the portal! “I can’t believe I am finally back, this is all because of you, Mr. creature!” I thanked the creature and returned back to my room through the portal.

“Phew! I am finally back,” I sighed. I was really grateful for the creature to help me return to my room. I thought I was never gonna be back again! I quickly rushed outside my room and saw Lisa near the stairs; I hugged her tightly. She looked really confused, but I kept smiling. I was really happy to see my family and my house again. I thought I was never going to see them again. I promised myself not to open that cupboard and go inside the portal ever again! I was really grateful to be back with my family and hoped that we all live happily ever after.
