Awareness and education are crucial: I would organise educational campaigns,
workshops, webinars, and talks to inform the public about the environmental impact of
plastic bags and the benefits of sustainable alternatives. Utilising social media is also key;
I’d run campaigns sharing facts, statistics, and tips on reducing plastic bag usage and
encourage people to share their own stories. Partnering with influencers and environmental
activists can help reach a broader audience and amplify the message.

Community engagement is essential: I’d organise local clean-up events to collect plastic waste from public spaces and involve community members, schools, and local organisations. Another strategy would be reusable bag drives to distribute reusable bags, especially in high plastic bag usage areas, in partnership with local businesses. Additionally, setting up plastic bag exchange programs where people can trade plastic bags for reusable ones would be effective.
Promoting alternatives: Plastic bags are being replaced by cloth bags, paper, and biodegradable options, which is key. I’d showcase businesses that have successfully made
the switch. Supporting startups and innovators through grants, awards, and incubation programs would incentivize the development of sustainable packaging solutions.
Storytelling and media coverage are powerful tools: Highlighting success stories of individuals, communities, and businesses that have reduced plastic bag usage can inspire others. Working with local and national media to cover events and initiatives helps spread the message further.

Encouraging your future generation: Partnering with NGOs and other organisations
working on plastic waste reduction can amplify efforts and resources. Engaging schools
and universities in campaigns, research projects, and student-led initiatives can also make
a significant impact.
These are some essential steps that I would like to take for a positive environmental impact and I believe that these steps can lead to significant change
