Education is not limited to textbooks and exams alone. Co-curricular activities like sports, arts, music, debate, and cultural events are crucial for the holistic development of a child. A good school offers a wide range of such activities, fostering creativity, teamwork, leadership skills, and personal growth.
Therefore, the reputation and track record of a school in terms of academic performance matters for parents in India. A well-established school with a history of producing excellent results in Board exams or other competitive exams can provide your child with a competitive edge. It can open doors to reputed colleges and universities, increasing their chances of a successful academic career.
Hence, for parents like Dr Himanshi Khosla recommendation is very important. More so, when it came from her husband. In a candid interview, she talks about how her twin daughters – Adab and Anhad Perhar – now in class I, are doing at Apeejay School, Model Town in Jalandhar. Earlier, they were at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld.
How and why did you choose Apeejay?
The reason is very simple. My husband is an alumnus of Apeejay School, Model Town. He is a pulmonologist. He spent 12 years studying at Apeejay. When it was time for our twins to begin their formal education, Apeejay was the obvious choice. He said that the school enjoys a good reputation. Also, the school is very approachable; we live in Model Town and the school is nearby.
The teachers do their best to ensure that every child keeps pace with what is being taught in the class. In LKG and UKG most of the learning was fun-based activity. Now, that my daughters are in class I, they have started to get down to actual learning

How has the experience been?
So far, the experience has been good. However, I am bit discerning and feel that there is always scope for improvement. I would prefer if there was a little more stress on vocabulary and speaking skills. There can be some improvement in the infrastructure as well.

How has the learning curve been for the twins?
I have no complaints. Both my daughters are doing well in the class. The teachers do their best to ensure that every child keeps pace with what is being taught in the class. In LKG and UKG most of the learning was fun-based activity. Now, that my daughters are in class I, they have started to get down to actual learning. They have books and study methodology is a now a bit different – a mix of fun-based activities and academics. The good thing is that my daughters are coping well.
How are the teachers?
They are very good. Shikha Gautam ma’am is their class teacher. I had raised a concern about my daughters’ reading skills but she reassured me that everything will come in time. I am a doctor and I always had a book in my hand. But today, teaching is different – there is story-telling, and poem recitation to name a few. This is also good since it gives kids to explore their creative side and keeps them busy as well.

Shikha ma’am knows each and every child. My twins are very different and the teacher knows the strength and weakness of both. This is really nice.
What about parent-teacher meetings?
These are held regularly. The school is very particular about this; they have a timetable and schedule which they stick to. Our concerns are addressed at the earliest.
Would you recommend Apeejay to other parents?

Definitely. When the twins were at Kinderworld, they had a blast. They enjoyed their school time since they were learning new things. The teachers were excellent. The teachers patiently heard every parent and any grievance that they may have had.
