She epitomises the maxim: good things come in small packages, and now her mental fortitude has captivated the audience, which has made her the beacon of lightning-fast kicks and sportsmanship. Meet Harshali Kheterpal, who is studying in Class III at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park. In a candid interview, she shares her inspiration behind her achievements.
Tell us about your recent achievements.
I recently secured a gold medal at the First South Delhi Taekwondo Championship 2025, organised by the South District Taekwondo Association. The event took place at Siri Fort Sports Complex and was a memorable experience, marking a significant milestone in my martial arts journey and boosting my confidence immensely.
How did you find an interest in Taekwondo?
Initially, I was not interested in this sport. However, I used to accompany my mother to her kickboxing classes. That is when I developed an interest in self-defence, and hence, I took up Taekwondo classes.
Who is your inspiration behind learning this sport?
My inspiration behind learning Taekwondo is my mother, who is a Black Belt holder. Watching her dedication, discipline, and strength motivated me to follow in her footsteps. Her unwavering support and passion for the sport have always encouraged me to train harder and pursue excellence in Taekwondo.

Who is your favourite taekwondo player?
I currently do not follow any national or international Taekwondo players, but I draw immense inspiration from my coaches. Their dedication, discipline, and skill have a strong influence on my training. They constantly motivate me to improve, and their guidance plays a vital role in shaping my journey in the sport.
How did Apeejay School support you?
The management and the teachers of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, are very supportive and encourage the students. The school also celebrates students’ achievements in extra-curricular activities by recognising them in the morning assemblies.
Tell us something about your training regime.
I have my classes three times a week. I also practice at home with my mother. In addition to this, I go for swimming and dance classes, which keep me fit.
