Srineeja Reddy loves to write as it gives her a platform to express herself fluently. She is currently working as a copywriter at Innocean Worldwide, a global brand communication agency.
In a fun interview, the Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) alumnus speaks about her work and experience of managing copy briefs in Telugu. Read edited excerpts:
What inspired you to become a copywriter?
I love to express myself a lot. I believe that I have many stories to tell. This belief has made me delve more into writing. I love all art forms, especially writing and photography. But writing is very special to me. Therefore copywriting!
What work does a copywriter usually do?
We get briefs from the client sourcing people. We work intensively on it. If there are any changes, we again work on it and resubmit it. I work in the regional team, which focuses on Telugu copywriting.

What trends have you noticed in the copywriting industry?
I have noticed that companies go with festivals and the current happenings. They center their marketing strategy around that to connect with the target audience.
Best memories from AIMC days?
So many beautiful memories. The fests were so special. Our batch of 2021 had these hybrid model, where we attended both online and offline classes. But in the offline classes, we enjoyed a lot on campus. January was hard for us due to the pandemic. But in February when we had offline classes, we had a lot of events on the occasion of Valentine’s day. Those were great times!
One word of advice for copywriting aspirants?
I am not in a position yet to give advice but if I have to say something, it would be just follow your heart. People might say you are not good at copywriting or are not eligible yet. But if you are good at expressing yourself no matter in what language, then you are doing great. Just remind yourself that!
