At the 12th Late Smt. Rajeshwari Paul Inter Apeejay Short Tennis Tournament held at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, young athletes showcased not only their sporting skills but also their determination and discipline. Among them, Naira Dagar, a Class V student of Apeejay School, Faridabad, stood out for her exceptional performance and was adjudged the Best Player of the tournament—an achievement that reflects her dedication to the sport at a young age.
For Naira, the recognition was both emotional and rewarding. “I felt very happy and proud. It was a special moment for me, and I was excited that my hard work paid off,” she shared, recalling the moment she received the honour. Her calm and focused mindset played a crucial role in her success. “I try to stay calm and think only about the game. I also tell myself to give my best and enjoy playing,” she added.
Balancing academics with sports can often be challenging for young students, but Naira has found a rhythm that works for her. She ensures that her studies are completed on time before heading to the court. “I practice regularly after school and on weekends. I finish my homework and studies on time, and then I go for practice,” she explained. The support system around her has been instrumental in helping her manage both responsibilities effectively. She credits her parents and teachers for guiding her journey and encouraging her to stay consistent.
Naira’s motivation stems from a combination of strong support and a genuine love for tennis. “My teachers, parents, and my love for the game motivate me. I always want to learn new skills and play better,” she said. Her curiosity to improve and willingness to learn continue to push her forward.
For fellow students who aspire to excel in sports, Naira has a simple yet powerful message: “Work hard, listen to your teacher, and never give up. Most importantly, enjoy the game and believe in yourself.”
Her achievement not only highlights individual excellence but also reflects the spirit of perseverance and passion that such platforms aim to nurture among young learners.
