Pratibha, an MBA student from Jalandhar, has got two lucrative job offers from Airblack and HDFC Life. The student, who pursued Finance & Operations at Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), reveals the skills she worked on to crack the interviews.

Edited excerpts:

What got you interested in Finance and Operations?

Prior to my MBA, I was aspiring for Chartered Accountancy (CA), so Finance is what I have always been interested in.

Why did you choose AIMETC?

Once I decided to pursue an MBA, I started looking for colleges that could provide me with job opportunities. AIMETC was one institute that had a remarkable placement record. In fact, some of my friends and relatives also got their first job through AIMETC’s campus placements. That’s what inspired me to enroll in the institute.

Tell us about your experience at Apeejay. What kind of exposure did you get?

I was selected as the Placement Coordinator in the first year. In this role, I got a chance to interact with several HR professionals and understand their criteria for an ideal candidate. This helped me work on my skillset as well. My professors also gave me tips on how to make an attractive resume and appear confident in a job interview.

Did the workshops and guest lectures at AIMETC help you?

We had multiple guest lectures by entrepreneurs who shared their experiences with us. This helped us gain knowledge about the industry and ways to excel in the corporate sector. Some companies also visited our institute to offer internships. All in all, I learnt a lot at AIMETC.

What kind of skills did you work on to crack the job interviews?

First, you have to be attentive in an interview and answer questions promptly. You have to be confident and give valid arguments, for which you need to know your subject thoroughly. Good communication skills are also important, and I worked on that a lot.
