‘From resume to real-world impact, this is how Apeejay prepared me for my internship’

Securing an internship at Tata Teleservices was a turning point for Priya Goyal, a final-year PGDM (Marketing & Finance) student at Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka. From creating marketing content to successfully onboarding a partner for the company, she proved her mettle in the fast-paced world of digital marketing. Priya shares how ASM’s placement cell groomed her for the challenge and the lessons she carried forward. Read edited excerpts:

 Did ASM’s placement support help you secure the internship?

Yes, absolutely. Though I finally got my internship at Tata Teleservices through my own efforts, the placement cell’s grooming helped me immensely. The CRC guided me on
resume-building, mock interviews, and even how to present PPTs in a professional way. Their motivation also kept me going when I was struggling to land an internship.

How did the CRC team support you personally during the process?
At one point, I was really anxious because everyone else was getting placed for internships and I wasn’t. The CRC team constantly encouraged me and reminded me that my opportunity would come. Their support was very important for my confidence.

What was your profile at Tata Teleservices?
I was working in digital marketing. My tasks included creating website content, designing posters, preparing email marketing campaigns, and coordinating with associate partners. One highlight was successfully onboarding an associate partner for Tata Teleservices, which was a big achievement for me.

What major learnings did you gain during the internship?
The biggest takeaway was hands-on learning in digital marketing. I had never worked in this area before, so this was my first real exposure to it. I also learned how marketing connects with strategy and partnerships in real time.

 How did you apply your classroom learnings at ASM during the internship?
The confidence, communication skills, and marketing knowledge I gained at ASM really helped me. The presentations and case studies we worked on in class gave me a base to handle professional projects during my internship. Marketing was a part of our syllabus. We learnt about consumer needs and more concepts. Now, we learn about the digital aspects as well. All this knowledge helped me be a step ahead in my internship. 

What are your career aspirations now?
Having gained a strong foundation in both finance and marketing, I see myself working in finance or marketing firms initially, but also exploring managerial positions in the long run. And who knows I may land up in the Big Four one day!
