Foundation of a child’s education acts as a building block for lifetime learning

1 / 6

Just like we build strong foundations for our homes to make them last for decades, the same approach should be followed for building a strong base for the students. The strong foundation of learning acts as a ladder for children which ensures a future where they can thrive and unlock their full potential.

To achieve a steep learning trajectory, Sangeeta Nistandra, principal, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi conducted a session on ‘strengthening existing practices at the foundational and preparatory stage’ for the teachers of classes Nursery to V.

She highlighted the need to strengthen the practices that are being followed according to National Education Policy 2020 guidelines. She emphasized these points through real-life examples and classroom situations.

Teachers were guided to enhance the art and sports integration in their teaching-learning process which is worth appreciation. They were also guided to motivate peer learning and impart the value of kindness and generosity in their everyday teaching.

Nistandra also shared the four versions of ‘The Rabbit and the tortoise’ story. She culminated her session with a sermon: “Choose your friends wisely who help you to win.”

Addressing the teachers she said, “Foundational learning is the base of a child’s education. It refers to basic literacy, numeracy, and transferable skills that are the building blocks for a life of learning. Just as we would not build a house without a solid foundation, we cannot expect a child to thrive without solid foundational skills. It’s the need of the hour today, tomorrow, and forever.”
