From navigating self-doubt to securing a position at SelfSpec Technologies, Harsh Bedi’s journey at Apeejay School of Management (ASM) is a story of resilience, skill-building, and mentorship. Specialising in Operations and Marketing, Harsh reflects on how the last two years at ASM have transformed not just his career prospects, but also his personality and confidence.

Harsh, how did your two-year journey at ASM shape you as a person?
The past two years have been full of ups and downs. There were moments when I felt alone, but I always reminded myself that such opportunities come only once in life. If you don’t enjoy the process, you can’t perform well. I learnt to motivate myself according to the situation.

The biggest support system was my teachers, staff members, and especially my assigned mentor. She constantly guided and motivated me, boosting my confidence during challenging phases. For me, the teachers at ASM are real heroes. My friends also played a huge role, whether it was preparing for interview rounds or supporting each other during stressful times.

What technical skills did you gain at ASM that helped you in the corporate world?
Technical skills were a major focus during my time at ASM. I developed strong command over MS Excel, MS Office, and PowerPoint. Companies value candidates who can articulate data effectively. For example, in Excel, understanding data helps in conducting SWOT analysis, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

Our professors ensured we didn’t just learn theory but actually practised these tools. Today, while working at SelfSpec Technologies, I realise how valuable these skills are in real business situations.

How did ASM help you strengthen your soft skills?
Communication skills were a game-changer for me. The one-on-one mock interviews conducted at ASM gave me clarity about where I stood and what I needed to improve. If you can communicate well, you can present your ideas confidently and convince others about your vision. These sessions prepared me thoroughly for real corporate interviews.

Tell us about your internship experience before joining SelfSpec Technologies.
During my Summer Internship Programme, I was selected at Chronicle Club Company in Noida for a three-month training period. It was my first corporate exposure, and it enhanced my communication skills significantly. I even received an excellence certificate for my performance. I am truly grateful to ASM for facilitating this opportunity.
