Tarun Kanodia, currently working as an Assistant Registrar at Punjab-based University, is someone whose career path and personality were both shaped during his enriching stint at Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar. A campus placement kickstarted his professional journey, but as he fondly recalls, the friendships, faculty mentorship, and fun-filled fests were just as impactful. In this quick and candid conversation, he opens up about his time at AIMETC, his love for technology, and why MCA was always his dream. Read edited excerpts:
The MCA course at AIMETC gave me a solid foundation in programming, software engineering, and computer graphics. The curriculum was practical, filled with assignments, presentations, and real-life scenarios that not only improved my technical knowledge but also boosted my confidence. I also learned management principles that now help me in my administrative role.

How would you describe your life on campus?
It was vibrant and full of energy! I played nearly every sport offered—cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, basketball, even table tennis. I have certificates to show for it too! I stayed in the hostel, participated in our annual fest Pinnacle, and even did group dances and one-act plays. I once won first prize in a dance event—even though dancing wasn’t exactly my strength! I had been Mr. Farewell at college and hostel as well.
What role did your teachers play in your journey?
A huge one! The faculty members were incredibly supportive. They taught using relatable examples, assigned group projects, and guided us with patience. The presentations we had to give back then really helped me develop my public speaking and overall personality.
Why did you choose MCA as your career path?
It was always a dream. I pursued BSc IT during graduation and naturally progressed into MCA. I’ve always been fascinated by technology—both hardware and software. I used to fix things for others, sometimes even for my teachers when their systems acted up. Computers just felt like home.
Any advice for current students at AIMETC?
Explore everything—don’t limit yourself to the classroom. Get involved in events, play sports, speak up during seminars, and enjoy every bit of the journey. These moments shape you more than you realise. And yes, trust the process—placements, learning, friendships—it all falls into place beautifully.
