Experiential learning through excursions: A step beyond the classroom

Excursions play a vital role in students’ holistic development by taking learning beyond the confines of classrooms. These outings foster curiosity, teamwork, and a sense of adventure, allowing children to explore new environments and acquire hands-on experiences. Engaging with nature and participating in outdoor activities also enhances physical fitness, mental well-being, and a sense of responsibility toward the environment. 

Recently, Apeejay Svran Global School organised an exhilarating picnic at Rangmanch Farms, Gurugram. The purpose of this outing was to provide students with a refreshing break while connecting them with nature and sustainable farming practices. 

“Our school excursion to Rangmanch was an unforgettable experience. The students learnt about farming techniques, interacted with animals, and enjoyed the fresh countryside air. The adventure camp was thrilling, with activities like rock climbing, zip-lining, and obstacle courses that tested our courage and teamwork. It was a perfect blend of learning and fun, leaving our students with memories to cherish and valuable life lessons,” Ms Malavika Sharma, School Coordinator, shared.

The day began with palpable excitement as students boarded the buses for their destination. The journey was filled with laughter, songs, and cheerful chatter, setting the tone for the adventure ahead. Upon arrival, students were greeted with the serene ambience of the farm and a host of thrilling outdoor activities, including zip-lining, sky cycling, trampoline jumping, rock climbing, and navigating a commando net. 

A pottery-making session added a creative touch to the day, offering students an opportunity to unleash their artistic talents. For many, zip-lining stood out as a favourite, with students experiencing the rush of gliding through the air while enjoying panoramic views of the lush surroundings. The blend of excitement and personal achievement brought a sparkle to their eyes and cheers from their friends.

The picnic provided not only fun and adventure but also an invaluable learning experience. Students explored farm life and witnessed sustainable farming techniques, fostering an appreciation for nature and its resources. The trip also strengthened bonds among peers and teachers, as moments of teamwork and shared joy created lasting memories.

Grateful for the enriching experience, students thanked their teachers and the farm staff for orchestrating a day filled with discovery, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. The picnic was a perfect blend of relaxation, education, and camaraderie, leaving everyone with cherished memories of the day.
