The P.G. Department of Multimedia and Sound Technology at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, recently organised an enriching educational visit to PVR Cinemas, Jalandhar, for the screening of the animated film Narsimha. A total of 47 students participated in this academic excursion, designed to offer them a first-hand experience of the creative and technical dimensions of filmmaking.
The initiative enabled students to move beyond conventional viewing and engage critically with various cinematic elements such as narrative construction, sound design, character development, animation, editing, and visual effects. For budding professionals in Multimedia and Sound Technology, this immersive exposure proved invaluable in understanding how mythology and cultural heritage can be reimagined through contemporary cinematic storytelling.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra underscored the importance of such experiential learning opportunities. She remarked, “Cinema is not merely about watching a movie; it is an exploration of the craft behind it. Initiatives like this empower our students to bridge the distance between theoretical knowledge and professional practice, preparing them for the evolving creative industry.”
Students expressed immense enthusiasm about the visit, sharing how it offered fresh perspectives on narrative techniques and audio-visual synchronisation. Many highlighted that the film inspired them to view cinema not just as entertainment but also as a significant medium for cultural preservation and modern storytelling.
Dr. Dhingra also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of faculty members—Mr. Ankit Goel, Ms. Anjali, and Mr. Sanjeev—in curating this meaningful academic experience. Appreciating their commitment, she encouraged the department to continue organising similar initiatives that keep students attuned to the latest trends, innovations, and opportunities in the creative and media industries.
This academic excursion proved to be both insightful and inspiring, leaving students better equipped to analyse and appreciate the multifaceted world of cinema, while reinforcing Apeejay College’s commitment to nurturing industry-ready professionals.
