It is essential that children eat balanced meals containing carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, good fat, and minerals, for their growth and development. But what dishes can one make that not only has all the necessary nutrients but also is full of flavour and loved by children?

A yummy nutrient-rich salad can be a great alternative in this case. Here’s a very easy and quick ‘Nutrient Treat Salad’ recipe by Sheena Ahuja, a Home Science teacher at Apeejay School, Faridabad Sector 15, which children will enjoy eating. It includes a healthy mix of ingredients like green moong sprouts, spinach, cottage cheese (paneer), dry fruits, American corn and more. Let us take a look:

Nutrient treat salad
Ingredients
Green moong Sprouts – 1 bowl
American corn – 1 bowl
Pomegranate – 1 bowl
Spinach-finely chopped – 1 bowl
Diced paneer – 1 bowl
Dry fruits – 1/2 bowl
For dressing
Lemon juice – 2
Vinegar – 1 tsp
Sugar – 1 tsp
Salt and pepper as per taste
Orange marmalade – 1 tsp
Method
Layer the ingredients in a bowl. Pour the salad dressing and mix well.
Refrigerate before serving.
Children can also make this recipe on their own! So, next time they crave something delicious, they can surely try this salad.
