Meet Udit Nagar, a Process Specialist at Fidelity International, where he ensures accuracy and compliance in client fund transactions across global markets. An Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park alumnus (batch of 2016), Udit pursued a Bachelor’s degree followed by specialisation in financial management. With years of experience, he has honed strong analytical, process-driven, and quality-focused skills, shaping a successful career in the fast-paced world of financial services.

What motivated you to pursue a career in the financial services industry?

I was drawn to the dynamic pace of financial markets and the chance to work in a field that demands precision, trust, and strong analytical skills. Seeing how financial operations directly influence clients’ investments inspired me to pursue a career in this domain.

How did  the school contribute to shaping your academic and professional goals?

The school gave me a strong academic foundation while instilling discipline, curiosity, and integrity. The school’s supportive environment encouraged me to think critically, communicate with confidence, and strive for excellence; values that continue to shape my personal and professional growth.

What extracurricular activities or responsibilities were you involved in during school?

I actively took part in sports, cultural activities, and inter-school events. These experiences strengthened my teamwork, leadership, and confidence. Balancing academics with extracurriculars taught me time management and played a key role in shaping my overall personality.

Can you explain the career progression that led you to your current role as a Process Specialist?

I began my career in financial operations, gradually moving into responsibilities related to transaction verification and risk assessment. My commitment to quality, consistency, and process optimisation opened doors for advancement, eventually leading me to my current role as a Process Specialist.

What does a typical day in your role at Fidelity International look like?

A typical day involves reviewing client instructions, conducting quality checks, identifying any process gaps, and ensuring accurate, timely execution. I work closely with various teams, analyse issues, and contribute to process enhancements to deliver a seamless experience for clients.

Which skills, technical or soft, are most crucial in the financial operations domain?

Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a clear understanding of operational workflows are essential. Equally important are soft skills like communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and adaptability, which help maintain accuracy and deliver client-centric solutions in a fast-paced financial environment.

What challenges do you encounter in your job, and how do you tackle them?

Some key challenges include meeting strict timelines, maintaining high accuracy, and managing process deviations. I address these by prioritising effectively, communicating clearly, staying committed to continuous learning, and proactively identifying risks early; ensuring clients are never impacted.

How do you feel when you look back at your school days?

Looking back, my Apeejay School days are filled with nostalgia and meaning. I cherish the school events, friendships, and the teachers who supported and guided me. Those experiences instilled lifelong values and shaped a significant part of who I am today.

One school lesson that still helps you today?

‘Do the right thing even when no one is watching’. This lesson in integrity continues to guide my decisions at work, especially in quality assurance, where honesty and accuracy directly influence client trust and operational excellence.
