Harpratap Singh, a NSS (National Service Scheme) volunteer and a talented student of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, made his institution and Punjab proud by representing the state at the prestigious North East Youth Festival, held recently in Gangtok, Sikkim. The vibrant festival brought together nearly 700 students from across the country, creating a rich platform for cultural exchange and youthful enthusiasm.
Harpratap showcased his exceptional talent through an energetic and captivating Bhangra performance, winning a trophy and accolades from the audience. His spirited dance not only highlighted the exuberance of Punjabi culture but also added a lively flavor to the festival’s diverse cultural lineup. His achievement is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and deep-rooted love for his heritage.
Apart from his outstanding solo performance, Harpratap actively participated in the NSS volunteers’ parade, where he demonstrated remarkable discipline, coordination, and unity—qualities that reflect the core values of the National Service Scheme. His presence at the festival served as a powerful reminder of how students can combine cultural pride with social responsibility.

What truly set Harpratap apart was his initiative to promote cultural understanding among his peers. In a heartening act of cultural exchange, he enthusiastically taught fellow participants the traditional Punjabi folk dance, Bhangra, and demonstrated the intricate art of tying a turban. His engaging sessions left an indelible impression on students from various states, fostering bonds of friendship and mutual respect while showcasing Punjab’s warmth, vibrancy, and rich traditions.
Sharing her thoughts on this achievement, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, congratulated Harpratap while mentioning, “It is heartening to see our students serve as cultural ambassadors. Harpratap’s contribution not only reflects his talent but also upholds the vibrant and spirited heritage of Punjab. Our state’s rich traditions of dance, music, and community pride live on through such young torchbearers.” She also acknowledged the unwavering efforts of Dr. Simki Dev, Dean of the NSS Wing, for her dedicated guidance, motivation, and support in nurturing such young talents.
Apeejay College of Fine Arts takes immense pride in promoting excellence not just in academics but also in cultural, social, and leadership spheres. Harpratap Singh’s success story is an inspiring example for all students, proving that passion, commitment, and a strong sense of identity can create meaningful impact on national platforms.
