CUET-UG 2025: Accountancy candidates offered retest

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that CUET-UG candidates who appeared for the Accountancy paper between May 13 and 16 will be given an option to retake the exam, following reports of out-of-syllabus questions.

“In order to align the question paper with the prescribed syllabus, changes have been made to the Accountancy paper, effective from May 22,” an NTA official stated. “Students will now be able to choose between two sets of questions for Unit V, while Units I to IV will remain unchanged.”

The decision aims to maintain fairness and provide affected students a chance to reappear with a revised question pattern. Those who already took the exam can either retain their existing score or opt for the retest. The NTA will release the procedure for this choice on its official website.

This year’s CUET-UG exam — a key gateway to undergraduate admissions across central universities — has witnessed a record 13.5 lakh applications. The entrance exam began on May 13, after being postponed from May 8, and is being conducted solely in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format, a shift from the hybrid model introduced in 2024.

CUET-UG has faced several logistical and technical issues this year. The exam was cancelled for two consecutive days at a centre in Rangreth, Srinagar, due to persistent technical problems. In 2024, it was cancelled across Delhi the night before the scheduled date due to logistical constraints.

The NTA’s move to offer a retest aims to ensure transparency and fairness, addressing student concerns and ensuring that discrepancies in question papers do not disadvantage any candidate.
