Mansi Biloniya, a brilliant young artist from Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, is a testament to youthful talent and passion. With an extraordinary knack for acrylic painting, her art speaks volumes about her creativity and dedication. Selected as this week’s Apeejay Aspiring Artist, Mansi shares her artistic journey, inspirations, and aspirations in a candid interview. Read edited excerpts:
Mansi, since when did you start drawing?
I joined this school in grade 3, but initially, I struggled to develop an interest in art. However, during grade 4 and the lockdown, online classes and encouragement from my mother and art teacher helped me discover and understand art. That’s when I started pursuing it wholeheartedly.
So which art form is your favorite and why?
I love acrylic painting. It allows me to bring my artistic vision to life. The way colors flow and merge—like a river over dry earth—is mesmerizing. The natural forms created by the pigments’ movement inspire me every time.
How does your school support you as an artist?
My school has been instrumental in nurturing my talent. Teachers are always approachable, and our principal ensures every child is encouraged in all fields. Regular art competitions and activities give us a platform to showcase and refine our skills. I also value the constant guidance and inspiration from my art teacher.
What is your definition of art?
To me, art is a diverse cultural expression that evokes emotions, communicates ideas, and showcases technical brilliance. It’s a creative journey that connects the artist with their audience on a profound level.
How long does it take to complete an artwork, and what themes do you explore?
Completing an artwork, like an A3-sized painting, takes about a week. Larger pieces take longer. I always try to interpret themes uniquely. For example, for a Diwali artwork, I created an abstract painting of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha, connecting the festival with spirituality.
Any upcoming artworks?
I recently designed a poster for a blood donation camp at our school. My next project is a Christmas-themed canvas.
What new art forms do you wish to learn?
I’m eager to master advanced sketching and delve deeper into abstract art.
Finally, any other hobbies apart from art?
I’m passionate about Kathak, which I’ve been learning for four years. I also enjoy singing, dancing, debating, reading, and crafting—essentially, anything creative or extracurricular!
