She has become a guiding light for new parents navigating the joys and challenges of raising young children. Meet Dr Rupali Jain, an alumna of the 2007 batch from Apeejay School, Nerul. In a candid interview, this accomplished paediatrician shares her personal and professional experiences, offering practical insights into managing young children. From balancing care and discipline to fostering growth and well-being, Dr Jain’s advice serves as a trusted roadmap for parents seeking to raise happy, healthy, and confident kids.

What are you doing professionally now?

I am, at present, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Paediatrics at a medical college, while also running a private practice as a neonatologist and paediatrician. My professional focus combines teaching medical students, conducting research, and providing specialised care for newborns and children in a clinical setting.

Any advice for medical aspirants?

My advice for medical aspirants is to follow your passion. Medicine is a demanding field that requires dedication, perseverance, and continuous learning, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Helping patients, making a difference in lives, and growing professionally make the challenges worthwhile, offering both personal and professional fulfilment.

How do you juggle being a full-time mother and being a paediatrician?

Balancing life as a full-time mother and a paediatrician is challenging, but with a supportive family, it becomes manageable. Teamwork at home helps me stay organised, maintain efficiency, and achieve better results, allowing me to fulfil both my professional responsibilities and family commitments effectively.

Share your favourite nostalgia from school.

My fondest school memories are from participating in group activities leading up to the annual day. The experience taught me teamwork, discipline, and creativity, and the friendships and lessons I gained during those moments continue to hold a special place in my heart even today.

Any words of wisdom for school students?

My advice to school students is to embrace hard work and sincerity; these are timeless mantras that never fail. Along with them, smart work has become equally important in today’s fast-paced world. Combining dedication, honesty, and efficiency paves the way for success in both academics and life.
