The vibrant spirit of Punjab came alive as the students of Class V-A of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, hosted a colourful and informative morning assembly to celebrate Baisakhi, the joyful harvest festival. Held with great enthusiasm, the assembly aimed to raise awareness about the cultural significance of this important festival and to reflect the spirit of unity in diversity that defines India.

The event commenced on a thoughtful note with a message centred around the three Hs – Hope, Harvest, and Happiness – each echoing the essence of Baisakhi. These meaningful words set the tone for the celebrations and helped the audience connect with the theme of the festival.
The audience was then treated to a beautiful poem and a joyful song, which added a lyrical touch to the assembly. The highlight of the program was a lively skit, transporting everyone to a traditional village in Punjab during Baisakhi. The skit painted a vivid picture of rustic celebrations, complete with colourful costumes and cultural references, effectively showcasing the festival’s essence.
To expand the knowledge horizon of the students, an interactive quiz was conducted, introducing them to other harvest festivals celebrated across India – Vishu in Kerala, Puthandu in Tamil Nadu, Bihu in Assam, and more. This segment emphasised the rich diversity of Indian culture and how every region pays tribute to its farmers and their tireless efforts.

The energy in the auditorium peaked with an electrifying bhangra dance performance. The rhythmic beats and vibrant moves perfectly captured the festive mood of Baisakhi, leaving the audience clapping and cheering with joy. Parents who attended the assembly were visibly proud, and their presence served as a great motivation for the young performers.
The programme concluded on an inspiring note with a message from the Vice-principal ma’am, who appreciated the students’ efforts and encouraged everyone to recognise and respect the hard work of ourfarmers, the true heroes behind the harvest.
This well-curated assembly by Class V-A was a perfect blend of education and enriching the students’ understanding of India’s agricultural and cultural richness. Through poems, songs, skits, quizzes, and dance, the event instilled a sense of pride and appreciation for the nation’s traditions, leaving everyone with a lasting impression of Baisakhi’s significance.
