Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar brought laurels to the institution by clinching the Overall Trophy at ‘Punjabi Maat Bhasha 2026’, organised by the Punjabi Sahit Akademi. The prestigious literary and cultural event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various institutions, where students showcased their talent across a range of competitions celebrating the richness of the Punjabi language and culture.
The students of the college delivered exceptional performances in multiple categories, securing top positions and contributing significantly to the institution’s overall victory. In Poetry Recitation, Sukhan Johal (B.A. Semester VI) secured the First Prize with his expressive and impactful rendition. Demonstrating remarkable literary flair, he also won First Prize in Story Writing and earned a Consolation Prize in Poetry Writing, marking a commendable triple achievement.
In the Calligraphy competition, Jaskirat Kaur (M.A. Fine Arts, Semester IV) secured Second Prize for her artistic excellence and precision. The Idiomatic Expression category saw Ankush (M.Voc Theatre, Semester IV) and Himanshu Kalyan (B.B.A. Innovation, Semester II) jointly securing Second Prize with their impressive command of language and presentation skills. Adding to the accolades, Dia Talwar (B.F.A. Applied Arts, Semester VI) won Third Prize in Poster Making, reflecting creativity blended with cultural sensitivity. In the Folk Song Singing Competition, Armaan Singh (B.A. Semester IV) enthralled the audience with his soulful performance and secured First Prize, further strengthening the college’s position in the overall tally.
Expressing immense pride in the students’ achievements, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra congratulated the winners and appreciated their dedication and hard work. She stated that participation in such competitions provides students with valuable platforms to showcase and refine their talents, enabling them to establish themselves confidently in their chosen fields. She emphasised that while competitions instil self-confidence and competitive spirit, they also help students recognise their shortcomings, thereby encouraging continuous improvement and personal growth.
Dr. Dhingra encouraged the prize winners to maintain their zeal and strive for excellence in future endeavours, bringing continued glory to the college and their parents. She reiterated the institution’s commitment to fostering holistic development by promoting academic, literary, and cultural excellence.
The Principal also acknowledged and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the faculty members of the Punjabi Department—Madam Lovepreet Kaur, Madam Anuradha, and Dr. Raman Dhadra—for their invaluable guidance and mentorship. She commended their unwavering commitment to nurturing young talent and motivating students to actively participate in such prestigious competitions.
