The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has slated the Biology exam for March 19, 2024. Students must have already completed their initial round of prep for the exam. However, studying the chapters needs to be complemented by solving several question papers to ensure one is exam-ready.

To make it easier for students, Dr Monika Gupta, TGT, Science at Apeejay School, Nerul shared some important tips not just for what to do a day before the exam but also for how to attempt the question paper on the final day of the exam.

It’s crucial to ensure that all your stationery materials are thoroughly checked and neatly packed a day before the exam. This includes pens, pencils, erasers, and any other items permitted in the examination hall. Additionally, lay out your school uniform and keep your ID card in a designated spot to avoid any last-minute hassles,” Dr Gupta said and shared some tips on what to do a day before the exam.

Strategic Revision: On the eve of your exam, engage in a focused and quick revision session. Go through the key points and bullet points you’ve highlighted or marked in your course material during your study sessions. By concentrating on the essentials, you can enhance your recall and confidence without overwhelming yourself.

Hydration and Nutrition: The importance of staying hydrated and consuming nutritious food cannot be overstated. Drink plenty of water and eat balanced meals to ensure your body and brain are well-nourished.

Digital Detox and Stress Management: In the digital age, the distractions and stress induced by social media can be significant, especially before an exam. Make a conscious effort to limit your screen time and steer clear of social media platforms. Keeping your mind stress-free is essential for retaining information and staying focused.

Restorative Sleep: Ensure you get ample rest the night before your exam. Sleep plays a crucial role in memory consolidation and helps in refreshing your mind and body. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep to wake up refreshed and mentally alert for your exam.

“Besides being thoroughly prepared for the exam, the students must be aware of how to attempt the question paper on the day of the exam. It is important to make a good impression on the examiner and how the student presents the answer sheets makes a lot of difference,” Dr Gupta said and gave the following 10 things to do on the day of the exam.

1.      Wake up on time.

2.      Avoid unnecessary last-minute revision.

3.      Make sure your admit card, ID card, water bottle, and writing pad are packed.

4.      Have a light and healthy breakfast.

5.      Reach the exam centre on time.

6.      Avoid discussing syllabus questions with your friends

7.      Enter the exam hall with all your necessary belongings.

8.      Fill the cover page of the answer sheet with utmost care and take the help of the invigilator wherever required.

9.      Utilise the reading time to your fullest and divide your writing time according to the difficulty level.

10.  Number the questions and subparts carefully.
