Neha Vasudeva is an MBA student with Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus. Her cool practical mind also harbours a deep artistic streak. She is a gifted artist with many talents in her kitty from painting to even gardening.
In this week’s Apeejay Aspiring Artist interview, Neha mentions how pursuing a passion transforms one into a confident soul, which as she believes, “Is the need of the hour.” Read excerpts from her interview:
Since when did you start drawing?
I began drawing in class 7. My school art teacher motivated me a lot. He encouraged me to draw more pencil sketches when he saw the charts and diagrams I had drawn in school.
Which art form is your favourite and why?
Crayon colouring, pencil sketches, glass paintings and tempera colours, these are all my favourite art forms. These forms give an aspiring artist like me the freedom to make a few mistakes. However, I’m always looking for ways to improve my skills on the canvas.
How does AIMETC support you as an artist?
All my teachers always keep me motivated enough. They encourage me to spare some time to pursue my hobbies, which let me find inner peace and joy. This in turn makes me a confident person and that’s the need of the hour!
Every artist has their definition of art. What’s yours?
I feel art can both be seen and felt. All of my sketches and artworks have a theme and I try to do full justice to that theme so that the viewer not only sees the sketch, but also feels the emotion which the artist had while creating it.

How much time does it take you to complete an artwork? What are your common themes?
The completion time totally depends on the type of artwork. Sometimes it gets completed in an hour, and sometimes when the mind isn’t clear it may take a few days. The longest I’ve taken to complete an artwork was 2 days. My common themes are self-peace and beauty in imperfection.
Your upcoming artworks?
It is based on the theme: Shiv parivar (family). It is a pencil sketch.
A new art form you wish to learn?
I wish to learn pastel and canvas drawing, that too professionally!
Finally, what hobbies do you have apart from art?
I’ve been doing embroidery, mehendi, rangoli designing, and face painting.
Adding to that list, I also have a special place for poetry, singing and gardening when it comes to my hobbies.
