On April 2, 2025, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park observed World Autism Awareness Day with a thoughtful initiative aimed at celebrating diversity and promoting inclusiveness. The event was a reminder of the importance of acceptance, understanding, and kindness toward individuals on the autism spectrum.
The school community came together to recognise the unique abilities, strengths, and perspectives of those with autism. Through meaningful activities and discussions, students and staff pledged to spread awareness and support the cause with compassion.
Promoting empathy and awareness
At the heart of the event was the message of empathy. Teachers engaged students in age-appropriate conversations about what autism is, how it affects people differently, and why it is important to treat everyone with respect and kindness.
Students were encouraged to reflect on the power of inclusion and how small gestures—like being patient, listening actively, and offering support—can make a significant difference in the lives of their peers.
According to Ms Neha Sharma, Special Educator at Apeejay School Panchsheel Park, in recognition of World Autism Awareness Day, observed on April 2, the staff members came together in a heartfelt gesture by wearing blue — an international symbol of support for individuals with autism.
“This initiative aimed to raise awareness, break the stigma, and encourage greater acceptance of neurodiversity. Additionally, the staff wore special badges and took a meaningful pledge to support children with autism and work towards building a more sensitised, inclusive, and compassionate community where every individual is respected, valued, and given equal opportunities to thrive,” she shared.

By recognising World Autism Awareness Day, Apeejay School reaffirmed its commitment to building a safe and inclusive environment for all learners. The school believes that when students are taught to understand differences, they grow into compassionate and responsible citizens.
The initiative was not just about a day-long observance but about nurturing a culture where every student feels seen, heard, and valued. Through such awareness drives, the school continues to uphold its vision of holistic education — one that goes beyond textbooks to shape character and values.
Remember, a little understanding can go a long way. Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, stands proud in its efforts to build a more inclusive world, one thoughtful step at a time.
